effort. The pair finished their first Rolex in tenth place, which is an exceptional feat for a first timer in the event’s largest starting field in history. But even after show jumping was complete, the show wasn’t quite over for Amistad.
“My groom had to lead us for the awards presentation,”
Michele recalls. “I knew he was not going to stand still for that! And the victory gallop and ride back to the stables was a little exuberant, to say the least!”
THE WORLD IS WATCHING “Amistad recovered so well after the Rolex weekend. He will get a well-deserved rest since he has work so hard this spring,” Michele says. But 2010 definitely isn’t over for this superstar
Warmblood. The 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games are quickly approaching, and Michele is hoping for a spot on the team. Canadian eventing team coach David O’Connor knows that this talented pair would be an asset to any national team, and Michele hopes that he selects her and Amistad for their first chance to
represent Canada on a worldwide stage. “Now I have to be patient and wait to see if we make
the team for the WEG,” says Michele. “I will keep my fingers crossed!” Also approaching quickly are the 2012 Olympic
Games in London. At 11, Amistad is the perfect age to continue on, and Michele is certainly looking forward to the possibility of having another chance to represent her country with her “Ami,” her partner, and her friend. WT
