27th – 29th July 8.30am – 6.30pm


No summer would be complete without a visit to a county show! The New Forest County Show celebrates its 90th birthday with three days of country pursuits, crafts, produce and entertainment.


2. LONGSTOCK PARK NURSERY – Butterflies and Buddlejas Event


24th and 25th July 2010 10.30am - 4.30pm


Spend a day learning about the beauty of butterflies at the home of the National Collection of Buddleja. The event will


include guided walks, information on how to attract butterflies


to your garden, and a tour of the collection. Admission is free but donations for the organising charity, Butterfly Conservation, will be sought on the day.


4. WEST DEAN GARDENS, nr Chichester – Chilli Fiesta


6th – 8th August 10.30am – 5pm


Spice up your summer with a visit to West Dean’s Chilli extravaganza! Chilli fans from around the world gather at the three-day event to savour


chilli growing and cooking demonstrations, and tastings of a variety of dishes including chilli chocolate and chilli ice cream! Don’t forget to join the salsa and belly dancing lessons, or simply relax to the toe-tapping sounds of the Latin Fiesta band.


5. HAMPTON COURT PALACE, Surrey – RHS Flower Show

needed to the world’s largest annual flower show! Now in its 21st year, and with a new layout and a Shakespearean theme, the internationally renowned show offers an amazing collection of show gardens, horticultural exhibitors, trade stands, and the ever-popular Festival of Roses.


3. AVON HEATH COUNTRY PARK, nr Ringwood – Bat Walk


30th July 8.30pm – 10.30pm


Grab your torch and go searching for bats! The Dorset Bat Group will lead this twilight stroll around the country park and is preceded by a slide show. The walk is aimed at older children and adults, and is just one of several wildlife events at the country park throughout the summer.
