Trail’s End T
Be still and know that I am God. Psalms 46:10 T is is the fi rst time in 32 years of publishing Trail Blazer has submit ed
entries, competing for top editorial honors alongside EQUUS, Western Horseman, Horse Illustrated, Horse & Rider and dozens of other outstand- ing equine publications. But when the dust set led, it was Trail Blazer that took home top honors for overall excellence. According to the judges’ comments, “First reaction to the magazine is
‘Wow, this makes a statement.’ T e magazine is informative, easy to navigate and chock full of well-writ en articles. Gorgeous layout and photography throughout. Magazine stays true to mission. A must-have publication for any trail rider.” Founder and Publisher Susan E. Gibson remains as passionate about
Trail Blazer as she was 32 years ago, when the publication was launched as a newsprint tabloid. “We are an editorially driven publication, and every person on our creative team brings their A-game to every issue. I think this really mat ers, because we strive to create a magazine that people keep for months or years to come. We push ourselves to fi ll the magazine with great material in every issue. We are always looking for that fresh new perspective on everything to do with trail riding.” People who trail ride make up 80% of the horse market—the largest single demographic in our industry. A recent Trail Blazer survey revealed
rail Blazer Magazine was awarded the top prize for General Excellence at the American Horse Publications annual meeting in Lexington, Kentucky on June 19.
that 85% are riding the same or more than they did this time last year. And 89% of trail riders surveyed said they own the same or more number of horses than they did this time last year. Every statistic showed that the trail riding market has remained steady and is the only segment of the horse industry that is thriving. “Even aſt er 32 years, I am more excited today than I have ever been
with the vision of Trail Blazer,” Gibson said. “We have a small but mighty staff who all enjoy our work and each other so much—it is just a great team eff ort by every single person here. While I am proud of the issue that just came off the presses—I know that our best issue will be the next one. We are always striving to blaze new trails!” All of us at Trail Blazer are proud to win this award, and we know that
our excellence springs from our love and passion for trail riding—and from the loyalty of you, our readers. It’s easy to be this good when we’re writing about what is so close to our hearts: a love of horses, the great outdoors and trail riding!
