Pier, rising 20 feet above water level, is the best place (in the world perhaps) to watch the perfect sunset. And, it spans almost a third of a mile, making it the longest fishing pier in the Gulf of Mexico. At the end of the pier (where lots of fishing is taking place) there is a 65-foot
octagon that extends over a sandbar where king mackerel, tarpon and cobia fish can be found.
So whether it’s days lounging in the sun and sand that you want, or a bit more adventure, it’s easy to see that Gulf Shores is going to be your kind of place no matter what’s on your wish list. Don’t forget to take in a few hours of shopping before you wind up your day at The Wharf, where the southeast’s tallest Ferris wheel is certainly just the perfect end to a trip you won’t forget.
