In the case of Ken-Caro, where small is beautiful, this gem of a garden is the ideal size to fertilise your green- fingered passions and leave you wanting more.
Location: Bicton, nr Liskeard, PL14 5RF. Five miles north east of Liskeard. From A390 to Callington turn off north at St Ive. Take Pensilva Road and follow brown tourist signs, approximately one mile off the main road. There is plenty of parking.
Open: Open seven days a week from the end of February to the end of September, 10.00am – 5.30pm.
Admission: £4.50, children £2. Groups of 12+ £4. Tea and coffee is available with shortbread. Dogs allowed on a lead in the woodland and meadow. Partial wheelchair access, although none to meadow/woodland.

Ken Caro – sweeping island beds lead out to a spectacular countryside view

One of Cornwall’s hidden gems with outstanding panoramic views awaits you at Ken-Caro. Set in five acres this connoisseurs’ garden is brimming with year-round colour. Set high above Bicton Manor Woods, Ken-Caro has been carefully planted by Mrs Willcock and her husband Kenneth – a garden-enthusiast and horticultural-columnist. Sweeping island beds lead out to a spectacular countryside view, conjuring up a miraculous sense of spacious beauty within just a few acres.
The creation of Ken-Caro only began in 1970, and the original planting focused on vegetables and fruit (including a large rhubarb bed). In 1994 the vegetable garden was transformed into a ‘secret garden’ and in the years since, many new areas have been planted and new features

From an established cottage garden, extra land acquired in 2003 enabled the creation of different gardens filled with many beautiful and unusual shrubs, trees, bulbs, herbaceous and exotics, all colour-themed. There is also a wildlife pond
