welcome back
Western Canadian Pipeline
The relaunch of the Western Canadian Pipeline has allowed the publication a chance to become a more sophisticated version of its former self.
The energy publication is now being published quarterly in a glossy magazine format.
It’s a more attractive way to bring energy news and views to those in the industry.
“We have given it a bit of a hiatus and a new look and format to increase readability,” explains Theresa Hardiker, manager of special sections and marketing for the Pipeline.
The look of the Western Canadian Pipeline was also changed to “increase its shelf life,” says Lorelle Holowaty-Wiens, manager of group sales for Southern Alberta Newsgroup, which publishes the Pipeline.
“We have done extensive research with company owners and employees in the oil and gas industry to make sure we are giving the readers what they want, so the new format will also include enhanced content,” she says.
Holowaty-Wiens is a former manager of the Western Producer and was a corporate relations manager in the wireless communications industry for oilfield companies in south/central Alberta before joining the Pipeline.
The publication is mailed out to those in the oil and gas industry who sign up for a free subscription at
sales@wcpipeline.com.
“An important thing this new magazine will offer is the fact that it is mailed directly to oil and gas industry companies in Western Canada, so it is a great direct marketing and readership tool. It is going right to the office of the people in the industry,” says Holowaty-Wiens.
The magazine format features articles on innovators, information on the upcoming events and first-hand accounts on how those in the business adapt to changes. But it is just one version of the new Pipeline.
The revamped website is updated daily with the latest breaking energy news.
“Individuals in the industry will find it a useful tool,” says Hardiker.
It will feature user-friendly applications such as an equipment trader and careers section.
As well, an e-newsletter will be sent monthly to those who sign up, offering interesting features about the industry, including new advances in technology and articles about leaders in the field.
The timing is right for a relaunch of the Western Canadian Pipeline because activity in the oilfield has been ramping up, explains managing editor Alan Poirier.
“The industry is coming back which is a good sign. We’ve seen improvements in the field and the royalty regime has certainly put some confidence back in the industry.”
