DID YOU KNOW THAT.....

• The Southern Alberta MedicAir Society is a non-profi t registered charity which raises money for medical equipment upgrades to improve patient safety and comfort in our local air ambulance service and fund our dedicated medical rescue helicopter air lift operation (H.A.L.O.) which services south eastern Alberta.

• In 2009, BAR X H Air and Medicine Hat EMS fl ew 620 fl ights transporting 789 patients in need of urgent medical attention to hospitals in Calgary and other destinations in western Canada.

• H.A.L.O. is the only dedicated medical rescue helicopter which can respond within a reasonable timeframe emergencies in remote or inaccessible areas of south eastern Alberta during daylight hours. Although S.T.A.R.S. provides service to much of Alberta, it cannot respond in a timely manner (within the hour) to most of the areas of south eastern Alberta due to fuel and time constraints. Since July 2007, H.A.L.O. has fl own more than seventy missions in south eastern Alberta and south western Saskatchewan.

• Funding for the Southern Alberta MedicAir Society is dependent on public and corporate donations. We do not receive provincial government funding. It costs approximately $2,400.00 per day to operate H.A.L.O. so your continued fi nancial support is critical to keeping H.A.L.O. in the air to insure that the residents of south eastern Alberta have access to the same emergency rescue services as to other Albertans.
