This sampling of pictures depicts
several images of the area. The man
on the far right is “Weaverville
March” author Capt. William Love
Parker. The structure at the bottom
right is the old Monticello School.
The little girl on the farm is Mary
Margaret Whitten, the great-great
granddaughter of Weaverville found-
er Michael Montraville Weaver. The
clipping from a 1940s edition of the
Asheville Citizen-Times is of Ox
Creek resident A.H. Penland. The standing above the French Broad
picture at the bottom o the page is River. The camp above is Camp Se-
described as several “rogues” eating quoyah and the postcard is an image
tomatoes out of a patch in 1903 on of rural Weaverville, noted for its
Hamburg. The men on the bridge reference of electric car travel times
are believed to be Weaver boys from Asheville to Weaverville.
