POSTGRADUATE
DEGREE
With an undergraduate
degree under your belt you
may well be tempted by the
exciting MA and diploma
courses on offer. However,
when you delve beyond the
surface and actually think
about applying you may
well be left thinking “how
the heck could I afford to
do that?”
While it’s true that grants, loans and all the
other nice features of the undergraduate
student support package aren’t generally
available to postgraduate students, don’t
despair just yet. It is possible to find
sources of funding – honestly.
In fact, a significant number of
postgraduates each year are able to secure
non-repayable funding for their studies
and/or living expenses. And even for those
that don’t receive funding there are financial
ways and means available if you know
where to look.
What’s important is that you think the
financial side of things through well. If you
have to drop out of a course due to lack of
funds, you could find yourself out of pocket
or having to pay back any funding you have
received. Here’s where to start looking for
postgraduate funding:
RESEARCH COUNCILS
Each of the seven research councils give
out a certain amount of postgraduate
funding each year and it’s well worth
