Little Shop of Horrors
Who ever thought that a musical centered around a singing plant with a taste for blood could ever
be a smashing success on the Broadway stage? Yet, that is exactly what happened with Little Shop of
Horrors. Add in the ingredients of a score by the late gay lyricist Howard Ashman and music by Alan
Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid) and you have a surefire recipe for suc-
cess. The Musical Theatre West is presenting their production of Little Shop of Horrors from July 10 to
July 26 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. The C.P.A.C. is located at 6200 Atherton Street (on the
CSULB Campus) in Long Beach. As well, M.T.W’s production will feature the sets and costumes from
the Broadway and National tour of the show. Danny Gurwin, Lowe Taylor, Peter Paige, Stuart Pankin,
Michael A. Shepperd, Meloney Collins, Kamilah Marshall and Fredericka Meek make up the all-star
cast for this hilarious and entertaining creation known as Little Shop of Horrors. For tickets and more
