the recent publication of a book about
henderson’s life and work has revealed some
intriguing facts about this very private man.
Born and brought up in a small Brazilian village,
his life changed dramatically at the age of 10
when his father disappeared and his family
was mysteriously evicted from their home in
the middle of the night. this early experience
marked the beginning of an unconventional life
that took henderson to Sao Paolo, London
and finally on to all four corners of the globe.
It was in London though that henderson found
his metier. he spent days pounding the city’s
pavements and getting to know its architecture,
CANAL-SIde CAFÉ hand embellished Canvas,

to these early days, with an emphasis on
autumnal skies, brightly lit shop fronts and slick
