Music gave
believe that two
years ago Taina
Taina a voice
was diagnosed
with autism.
Lacking language to
express herself, Taina
would frequently cry.
Then Taina’s parents
found a preschool with
access to physical,
occupational, speech
and music therapies
through the
YAI/National Institute
for People with
Disabilities Network.
“When she said
‘Mommy,’ . . . that was
a word I had waited so
long to hear,” said
Taina’s mother.
Today this 5-year-old
always has something
to say, plays with other
children and enjoys
music.
“YAI gave us hope,”
said Taina’s father.
