ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Our annual Athletics Carnival is coming up on Friday, 22 June (Week 9) and we are very much looking forward to what is always a big event on the CPS sporting calendar. As in previous years, track events, novelties and ball games will take place on the day of the Carnival and Field events will be run as a sport choice. This means that those students who wish to compete in High Jump, Long Jump, Shot-put and Discuss will do so on Friday afternoons during sport. Winter sport will commence next week and sport choice notes have been distributed this week.
All primary students are expected and encouraged to attend the Athletics Carnival and all will be entered into their 100m Age Race. Students then have the option of running in the 800m and 200m races and participating in Ball games and Novelty events. The P & C will be cooking up a storm with a sausage sizzle on offer for lunch and the SRC will be giving prizes to the best dressed supporters for their House. As always parental/family support is very much appreciated and if you are able to assist with timekeeping/place judging, please return the slip on page 6 of this newsletter. Thank you

WESTMONT SHIELD RUGBY LEAGUE KNOCKOUT COMPETITION
As you all know, Mr Murray’s football team went to River Park to play a game of footy last Monday. In the first half the team didn’t have much luck as we didn’t score any tries. Orange Public School had a big lead. In the second half Cowra had more luck with three tries from Brodie Graham, Cameron Roberts and Jaylan Simpson. Even though Cowra scored these tries, Orange got two more which gave them a 24 point lead. Orange ended up winning 36 to 12.
The star players for Cowra were Brodie Graham, Cameron Roberts and Jaylan Simpson. The star tacklers were Matthew Booker, Arthur Simpson and Lindsay Munro. A big congratulations to Drew Willis,
Izayah
Carter and Darius Pelepczuk who played their first game with Cowra. Well done to all players on a great game.

AFL INDIGENOUS ROUND HALF-TIME AUSTRALIAN
KICK Ten of our Indigenous students were lucky enough to be invited to attend a very special event at last Saturday’s AFL game between the Sydney Swans and the Melbourne
Demons. This was the
Indigenous round of the competition and country kids were asked to provide the half time entertainment and they went through Auskick drills and activities in between cheering
for the Swans. Our
students travelled to Sydney with Mr Harry Lambshead and a number of other parents and guardians. Everyone had a great (but long) day and we sincerely thank Harry for being the driver and minder for the day and Cowra High for the use of their bus.
