2012 NATIONAL SORRY DAY

Aboriginal students from Cowra Public School have been invited to attend the National Sorry Day celebration at the Low Level Bridge, Cowra on Monday, 28 May 2012.

The theme for this year is “SORRY, Still Living on Borrowed Time!”

2012 marks the 12 year Anniversary of Corroboree 2000, the day the word SORRY was written in the sky and thousands of Australians walked across bridges to demonstrate their support for indigenous Australians and the Stolen Generation.

Students will walk onto the low level bridge, then sit down for a minute’s silence to symbolise unfinished business for the Stolen Generation.

Students will leave the school at 9.10am and return to school at 11.00am. The

students will be accompanied by Mr Albert Murray, Mr Blake Duncombe, Mrs Eileen Day, Ms Ashleigh Elbourne and Mrs Allison Williams.

Vehicle access to the low level bridge will be closed during this time.

CRAZY HAT DAY

As our mid-term PBL reward for Term 2 all students who have not received a blue slip this term are invited to participate in a CRAZY HAT DAY next Thursday, 31 May.

Students can make, buy or borrow any kind of crazy headwear they like and be in the running for a special prize from the SRC if their hat is judged to be the craziest in their home class. The children will also be able to enjoy 10 minutes extra play time at recess as part of their reward for being respectful, on task and safe.

Those children who are eligible for the reward will be informed by their class teachers this Friday to allow them time to create the craziest hat possible.

SRC representatives.
