France
One of the French Alps’ most popular
summer destinations is Chamonix with its
dramatic backdrop of Mont Blanc, Aiguille
du Midi mountain and Glacier des Bossons.
With vertical drops of around 3,700m
between Mont Blanc and the Chamonix
valley, there is plenty of steep terrain for
thrill-seeking mountain bikers to enjoy.
There are also easier, flatter trails for clients
seeking a more leisurely experience.
Crystal and Inghams both feature
Chamonix while Inghams also offers
Headwater
summer holidays to the resort of Morzine.
France specialist Lagrange Holidays has a
wide range of summer accommodation in
the French Alps, and says Les Gets and
Morzine are popular for mountain biking.
For a different perspective, head to the
Pyrenees mountains on the Spanish border.
Adventure specialist Exodus runs an eight-
day tour of the region along some of the
mountain passes featured in the legendary
Tour de France race.
