Step up to
the challenge
START LINE
Organisation
• The teacher reads (or shows on the screen) a multiple
choice question
• All pupils stand in a line
• If the pupil thinks they know the answer they raise
side by side
their hand and step forward to the cone in front
• There are 10 cones
of them
ahead of them which
• If they do not want to answer the question they can
they have to get to the
‘pass’ and stay on their cone
end of
• If those who stepped forward get the question correct
• There are 5 cones
they move forward one more cone (so at the start of
behind them
the game a pupil could end up on cone number2)
• If those who stepped forward get the answer wrong
they have to go back 2 cones (so at the start of the
game they would now be on cone -1)
• The winner is the first person (or team) to cross the
finish line
How about giving each pupil an A B C D card, and they
hold up the relevant card to their answer?
How about only allowing the pupils to have 2 consecutive
‘passes’, so that they have to at least attempt some
answers they may not be sure of?
