Why the Internet ? SALUDOS HISPANOS

There are over 17 million Hispanic Internet users in the US by 2007 (about 1/3 of the US Hispanic population), estimated to be increasing by 20% each year.

49% of Hispanics online would like more Spanish language sites on the Internet.

69% of Spanish-speakers visit sites in Spanish to buy and research products. Hispanic respondents are 49% more likely to buy from a Spanish language site when shopping online.

43% report buying online frequently or occasionally and 52% say the ability to buy online is one of the reasons their home is connected.

Household computer penetration has increased approximately 68% among U.S. Hispanics. A higher rate than the general population.

Online Hispanics are more affluent, more educated, and more acculturated than the aggregate Hispanic population.

Hispanics spend more time online at home (9.5 hours per week) and work (13.8) than all U.S. consumers.

Most Hispanic adults would prefer to use the Internet in Spanish if they had the choice. However, many U.S. Latinos report that they do not find information in Spanish that is relevant.

The U.S. has more Hispanic Internet users than the entire online population of Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia. If U.S. Hispanics are growing by 15-20% annually, it’s definitely a market you must include in your global strategy.
