Energy savings + CO2 savings = Grundfos Pumps
nergy as well as CO2 savings have become increasingly important targets to realise reductions in for many businesses today.
There are occasions when it is possible to
simultaneously achieve these ambitions and this is true in the instance of pumps, as they provide the potential to deliver major savings on both fronts. So how can you achieve this? Well at Grundfos Pumps, we offer a range of diagnostic tools including an Energy Check or Pump Audit that will help to establish the current pump system performance. In fact, this is what we found out when we recently
worked with a range of clients to see how we could help them. This included a brewery where we delivered an energy saving of 75% simply by identifying and changing key pumps; a chassis manufacturer that benefited from a pump upgrade and saved 51%, while a power plant saw a saving of 50% from taking Grundfos’ advice. This means that regardless of if the priority is cost
reduction, CO2 savings, ROI, a water usage reduction or just simply to get advice on your current installations, Grundfos have the tools, expertise and integrity to help you to achieve your ambitions. To find out more and see how you could benefit visit:

iddle’s IndAC 2 industrial air curtain guarantees an optimal climate separation to cold stores whilst
maintaining a constant room temperature and preventing energy loss. The IndAC2 ambient (without heating) is suitable above a door between a front hall or loading bay and a cold store. The air curtain operates perfectly in combination with a fast reaction door, preventing misting or icing in the doorway.
As soon as the door opens, the ambient
IndAC2 quickly starts creating a perfect climate separation. The air curtain, which is installed in the front hall above the cold store door, draws air from the front hall into the unit and creates an excellent, downward directed, laminar air stream to separate the two areas. As a consequence, energy consumption is reduced because the cooling equipment in the cold store doesn’t have to work as hard to keep the room cold.
Without the ambient IndAC2, an
exchange of humidity will take place every time the door is opened. With the optimal climate separation created by the IndAC2, the exchange of humidity is significantly reduced. Less humidity in the cold store means less misting and icing. As a consequence the area is cleaner, the entrance is visible and thus safer and there is less maintenance to do to keep the area free of ice.
The ambient IndAC2 is part of the
complete IndAC2 range and is therefore equipped as standard with energy saving and high performance EC fans. EC fans have stepless adjustment which means they can be set to the exact level required. The IndAC2 enables communication via MODBUS from a remote PC or BMS system. It is available in a standard (ST) and a maximal version (MX): IndAC2 ST for door
uPreventing mist and ice with the IndAC‐2
heights up to 6 metres; and MX for door heights up to 8 metres. The IndAC2 is supplied in two standard
colour combinations, RAL5011/RAL9006 and completely RAL9006. With the pronounced industrial design of this air curtain, the appearance is consistent with the latest developments within the industry.

Siemens Building Technologies’ KNX range is now available through My KNX Store
M
y KNX Store is a specialist distributor for controls products based on KNX technology. With
over a decade's experience across a range of residential and commercial projects, My KNX Store is committed to looking across Europe for the most reliable, advanced and contemporary KNX components. Siemens Building Technologies has a number of products that use the open KNX protocol, which supports integration of building services such as HVAC and lighting. Ian Ellis, Siemens Building Technologies UK Marketing Manager says: "Our KNX building control solutions support the increasing demand for the flexibility of an open protocol, ease of installation and lower energy consumption that building designers and owners are looking for. We're very pleased that installers will be able to buy our products in such a convenient way." Paul Kinghorn, General Manager of My
KNX Store says: "We are delighted to be able to offer Siemens products through our online store. We have seen demand for Siemens products such as the popular
Synco Living and the DALI Gateway growing over the past few years, and we were keen to be able to make it easier for our customer to find all their controls requirements in one place." My KNX Store can also offer expert
advice for users of KNX, as well as training for those new to the system. Customers can expect to find excellent product support, and the company also offers help to those using KNX for the first time. "We are focused on offering our
customers a high level of service," says Kinghorn. "We can even assemble KNX boards and have them delivered to site." A wide range of Siemens KNX products
is already available on the My KNX Store website, which can support a diverse range of needs from a one‐off purchase to a large project with 30‐day payment terms.
Ian Ellis says: "We believe that making our KNX products available through My KNX Store will not only ensure our products are easily available, but that installers are getting excellent support and advice while using them.

ErP Directive. The EU‐driven energy saving juggernaut has passed another milestone with the introduction of the Energy related Product or ErP Directive, setting improved minimum performance standards while offering the public and professionals opportunities to make better‐informed choices in the systems they purchase. While energy labelling will be the most visible aspect to the directive, within heating and hot water systems the biggest change for most manufacturers has been the requirement to utilise more energy‐efficient pump technology and to ‘cleanse' their supply change of non‐compliant products. For the commercial heating sector, the influence of circulating and other pumps on the overall energy‐efficiency of an installation is much less marked than it is for domestic appliances. And, as a manufacturer that has long offered fully modulating boilers with advanced burners and control systems, as well as low wattage pumps, the Stokvis Energy Systems range was already fully compliant with the ErP Directive. Nevertheless, as a responsible manufacturer mindful of its customers'
S
need to demonstrate compliance, Stokvis has produced new technical literature and updated its website to provide specifiers with all the information they need. An ‘Information Bulletin' on the implementation of the ErP Directive, published last Autumn, offered specifiers of Stokvis boilers background on the context of the regulations and its objective of cutting emissions of Greenhouse gases together with other potentially harmful emissions. The bulletin also explained how ErP defines categories of equipment with ‘lot 1' encompassing heat producing products such as boilers and heat pumps up to 400 kW while ‘lot 2' covers water heaters and storage vessels of up to 400 kW output or 2,000 litres capacity. Accordingly, Stokvis Energy Systems has produced a series of ErP data
sheets relating to the ranges affected by the directive, as well as supplying them with the necessary energy label on the casing. Both the R40 wall hung cascade boiler series and the R600 Series come within the 400 kW limit of the legislation and are given an A‐rating for their seasonal space heating energy‐efficiency, as indicated in their datasheets. Other figures of interest to specifiers will, for instance, be the auxiliary Electricity consumption, which for the 385 kW output R600 boiler is just 0.697 kW at full load. The Grundfos hub that is engineered for engineers
rundfos launched their knowledge‐ based hub last year
specifically aimed at engineers who work across multi‐disciplines. This means that regardless of whether your focus relates to commercial building services, process industry applications or the water supply and treatment industries, this on‐line destination is for you. Designed by engineers, for engineers, this hub was developed to be
an evolving platform whose aim is to keep all engineering partners who are interested in pump technological advances informed about the latest happenings in the industry as well as on the wider subject of fully integrated pump systems. It is broken down into easily accessible sections, with topics such as
applications, products and engineering tools, as well as more in‐depth areas on energy optimisation, how to build on system intelligence and an opportunity to watch a range of a clips such as “Meet the experts” who share their expertise on various applications and their challenges. It is also easy to navigate and to access the information you need. To find out more and see the many benefits for yourself, log on to
www.grundfos.co.uk/engineers as with so many dynamic changes happening in engineering, we think you will find this site will quickly become a firm favourite as a source for all things pumps.
