Kroenke, American business- man, professional sports team owner and rancher, will become the Waggoner’s new owner. This historic transaction will be the fi rst-ever sale of the Waggoner, an approximately 535,000-acre estate which was established in 1849. With properties in the western and southwestern Unit- ed States and Canada, Kroenke Ranches is one of the largest conglomerates of working ranch- es in the world. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has appointed 37 mem-
bers to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board. Thirty-six appointees will serve 3-year terms and 1 appointee will serve a 1-year term. From Texas, the newly appointed members representing are Charlie
cattle producers Price, Oakwood;
Charlie Risinger, Terrell; Dave Edmiston, Brady; and Don Smith, Sulphur Springs. The 100-mem- ber board is authorized by the Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985. The Secretary se- lects the appointees nominated by beef, veal, dairy, and import- ers-certifi ed organizations. The board contracts with established national,
non-profi t, programs of industry-
governed organizations to imple- ment
