his is my first issue as editor of SGB Golf and I would like to say straight away how


proud I am to have been given the chance to edit such a well- respected publication.


I have contributed articles to SGB Golf on and


off for the past seven years. Before that I wrote for and edited other golf-trade titles, so hopefully I am not entirely unknown to the industry. However, I have sizeable shoes to fill following

that Hillside Golf Club in Lancashire had rejected Steven Gerrard’s application for membership. Whatever their reasons, this sends a pathetic signal to the wider world about our sport at a time when golf needs all the friends it can get.
