By now darkness was beginning to fall and our train count wasn’t very high; we had only photographed two coal trains on the day. However, the railroad ra- dio was indicating that track work was clearing up and trains would be running as the evening progressed. We set up at


the west end of Big Four Tunnel No. 2 for the show.


Bluefield is the base for helper loco- motives in the area, and we saw there were three sets waiting for action when we passed through in the morning. Two of the sets had heritage units in the consists, one with ES44AC No. 8100 in Nickel Plate colors and the other with ES44AC No. 8104 painted for Lehigh Valley. During our wait at Big Four
