ENERGY SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR ROTARY MOTION
igus has introduced its new twisterband HD energy supply system for rotary motion of up to 20 turns around its own axis
individual segments allows fast assembly. The link design also allows fast filling with cables and hoses from the outside. “Technically advanced, yet cost effective, the twisterband HD is the ideal, low wear and low maintenance solution for carrying cables in rotary applications, encased in a compact and tough guiding system,” concludes Leonard.
twisterband HD from igus is an energy supply system for rotary motion of up to 20x around its own axis
nergy chain specialist igus has launched a stronger, more robust version of its twisterband rotary motion cable management system – twisterband HD. Developed to give operational and functional reliability to rotating applications that require mixed services, for example, power, data, air or fibre optics, with high loads and small installation space, twisterband HD supports up to 20 turns around its own axis. “twisterband HD combines the strength

and stability of the new twisterchain design with the compactness, flexibility and multi-rotation capabilities of the proven twisterband,” says Justin Leonard, director, igus. “To accommodate high loads, the new band segments have been designed for added strength and stability, and allow rotational movement at low temperatures.” The outer diameter of the energy chain
is just 300mm and height starts at 250mm, guaranteeing high strength with minimal installation space requirements. Due to the innovative design, high angles of rotation are possible with horizontal rotary motions of around 7,000 degrees (20 full turns) and vertical to 3,000 degrees (eight full turns), while reliably guiding energy, data and media. results of over one million rotary cycles even under tough conditions. Tested in temperatures ranging from -40˚C to +80˚C, twisterband HD is suitable for use in outdoor environments, as well as indoors. The predefined minimum bend radius prevents damage to cables, while the special hinge design that connects the

STANDARD GANTRIES AVAILABLE IN 24 HOURS
igus has introduced a range of gantries built on its drylin E linear axis system. From simple linear systems to complex, three- dimensional automation, measurement and positioning applications, the drylin E gantries utilise proven tribo technology, which means that all systems feature sliding, self-lubricating linear components and therefore require no additional maintenance. “The mechanical engineering sector and its suppliers face major
global challenges,” says Rob Dumayne, director, igus. “As competition intensifies further and price pressures increase, demand for local production is becoming greater. We offer competitive, system solutions that automate tasks, which enables faster production capabilities.” Used to implement three-dimensional applications, the drylin E room gantry is based on a flat gantry
system with a single vertical axis. The room gantry has a working space of 500 x 500 x 100mm and can carry payloads of up to 2.5kg. With an accuracy of up to 0.1mm and speeds of up to 0.5m/s, the room gantry is ideal for general pick and place applications, including those found in the medical and microelectronics industries where specific placement and careful handling is essential. drylin E flat gantries have a working space of 300 x 300mm and can lift loads up to 10kg. Speeds of up
to 3m/s can be reached depending on the applied load with an accuracy of 0.5mm. As with the flat gantries, the drylin E line gantries can carry the same payloads but with a working space of 500 x 100mm, and speeds up to 1m/s with 0.2mm accuracy. With the limit switch assembly housed within a T-slot, the complete length of the gantry’s profile can be used, enhancing its capabilities. Standard drylin E gantry sizes are available for delivery within 24 hours, while custom gantries can be configured and requested online at:
