Contents Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. This month, in our first feature, I’m delighted to offer an “end of season” round up from a selection of suppliers to the UK education sector. We have a great mix of suppliers large and small – some will already no doubt be familiar to you, others may not be but they are certainly worthy of your attention and I’d invite you to get in touch with them if their products and services are of interest. They are all members of BESA, the trade association representing suppliers to the sector, so you can be sure of buying with confidence from them. In our second feature this month, we speak to Mark Maclaine, co-founder of

Tutorfair, who explains how the company is aiming to give learning opportunities to children who are in need of tutoring but can’t afford it. Mark also talks about the role tutoring can play in helping time-poor class teachers to develop their students' academic skills and improve outcomes. Elsewhere, we have the usual mix of news and views from around the UK education

sector, including comment and insight from regulars Charlotte Beckhurst, Kirsty Bertenshaw and Alicia Blanco-Bayo, looking at story telling in early years. Finally, in our regular ‘View from the classroom’ feature, we hear from Dan Chambers, ICT co- ordinator and teacher at Brierley Forest Primary School, Sutton-in-Ashfield, about the work the school is doing to engage its pupils through innovative and exciting cross- curricular teaching. Remember, you can get in touch with us via Twitter, Facebook and our homepage,

as well as by phone or email. Most importantly, have a great and relaxing summer! Enjoy the issue!
