Shoe-String Support Cancer Research

UK insole and shoe lace manufacturer Shoe-String employ some staff that are tough as nails, over the last couple of months, one member of staff has stood out and shown his metal.

Warehouse worker, Michael Panter, competed in a charity boxing

match ‘White Collar Boxing’ to raise money for Cancer Research. 8 weeks of preparation to learn the basics of boxing; movement, fitness and strength training followed by the big fight. Michael practiced every day in the Shoe-String warehouse by bench pressing boxes of quality shoe care and deadlifting all the UK manufactured insoles; he even tied together all the fine shoe laces into a skipping rope and worked on his cardio.

‘He beat me to smithereens’ – Unfortunately, Michael’s opponent was bigger and had slightly more experience inside the ring, but that didn’t discourage Michael ‘I had him in the last round’ he says. The fight was close but unfortunately Michael just missed out on the big win. The proceeds all went to Cancer Research and although Shoe-String might be backing losers since 2015, they are proud to donate to the cause. Michael and Laura (from Marketing) are looking at entering XRunner in aid of The RSPCA.
