Eppendorf’s New Heatsealers Are
Small, Reliable and Flexible By launching the new HeatSealer Family Eppendorf offers now two new devices for reliable sealing of different plate formats. To match various requirements, there is a choice between a small and extremely user- friendly device, HeatSealer S100, and a slightly bigger version, HeatSealer S200, with flexible programmable sealing parameters. Both models allow for easy, repro- ducible and effective sealing of plates, thereby efficiently preventing evaporation and contamination. Thanks to a selection of adapters the standard plate formats can still be used. Whether hermetic sealing
of multiwell plates or effective evaporation protection for low-profile PCR plates is required, the Eppendorf HeatSealer is always the right choice. An integrated thermostat prevents overheating while enabling reliable and reproducible sealing of the plate. The press-on mechanism was improved and makes handling even more simple. tip rack waste. TerraRacks are 50 percent lighter than conventional tip racks, highly compressible when empty and completely recyclable. TerraRacks are composed largely of PETE (polyeth- ylene terephthalate), an exceptionally strong polyester that’s easy to recycle and in high demand as a post- waste commodity. The TerraRack shell, with its hinged lid and front latch, is molded as a single PETE unit, making it exceptionally lightweight. A polypropylene tip deck snaps into the shell, adding structural support with minimal weight. TerraRacks solve a major problem in labs around the world: what to do with used racks? Spent conventional racks can consume a large volume of space and represent a significant amount of plastic waste. Where disposal rates are based on weight, they’re also a considerable expense. TerraRacks on the other hand have less than half the weight and plastic of conven- tional racks and, after use, nest inside one another, significantly reducing their volume and disposal costs.
