has increased. The move towards simple and subtle is clear. In terms of finishes lots of neutral whites, subtle blends of bronze tones and the understated are the ‘Holy Grail’ of the moment. We make it our business to anticipate consumer demand which is how we came to launch our Perception CFX range, the only true concealed fixing that enables the Perspex plate to blend discreetly into the interior décor.

Bespoke options Driven by the need for ‘individuality’ demand

for tailor-made items for that exclusive ‘one-off’ project is higher than ever. Available through our wholesale customers, Hamilton’s bespoke UK design and manufacturing service, Savile Row, can create tailor-made prototypes to a highly finished standard for approval by the end-customer. The client provides a brief and we design and make the solution. We can laser etch, pad print and engrave any product at Mere, in Somerset. Yes right here in the UK! Customer satisfaction is everything and our wholesale customers can rely on us to be consistent and ensure their customers ultimately take delivery of a product which is not just simply fit-for-purpose but exceeds expectations. For example our plate finishes undergo both destructive and non-destructive testing. They are put through many processes to test corrosion proof, scratch proof and the like. Plus for those projects that stipulate minimum Light Reflective Values (LRV), such as a requirement of say 70-80%, we can work with the customer to create plate finish that both performs and looks good. All our switched sockets are Asta approved. Again I believe this is unique to us and it sets a hard to achieve standard. Essentially in doing so we are signed up to Asta inspecting our factory at anytime, unannounced.

An example of how we have responded to consumer demand is our new Vogue range of white moulded bevelled edged plates. We have applied the exact same care and attention to detail to this new range as we pay to our designer collections and bespoke pieces. Featuring a sleek white plastic finish our aim is to bring our expertise to a tired and predictable product and reinvent it, giving a modern twist and bringing it into the 21st century. The styling is contemporary with slim

ergonomic front plates and screw covers. We have literally covered all the bases from

installation by the contractor to ease of use by the end user.

Aesthetics From a practical, aesthetic point of view the

plates have a slim profile so minimal back box space is required (16mm switches, 25mm sockets) and the screw cap covers give sleek finish across the plates. Red flashes on the socket “switches” also enhances the aesthetic appeal.

These plates also feature multimedia options including Euro modules, which fit into euro plates compatible for audio and visual/TV. Bespoke grid solutions are another option

with 1 to 8 gang plates and a full range of modules (switches, neons, key switches) suitable for residential and commercial use coming as standard. USB charging in switched 1 gang and 2 gang sockets is also available. We have thought of everything, from individually bagging our products to protect

them right up until installation, to our ‘signature’ bright orange back modules, which make them easier to see when installing in dark areas. Double pole sockets for peace of mind also come as standard so installers can fit and simply forget as do dual earth terminals for high integrity earthing. Our attention to detail goes right down to ensuring fixing screws are secured to the back of each plate so they don’t get lost in transit. As the adoption and installation of ‘smart’

technologies such as lighting and audio controls gathers pace, systems such as Hamilton’s Mercury Lighting Control & Multi-room Audio solution ensures you retain that co-ordinated look by making both control plates and switch plates and socket designs available across a number of Hamilton collections. So far from being unchanging the electrical

wiring accessory market is a dynamic scene. More and more new and innovative designs and products are being introduced. For me, working in a competitive market means we have a real opportunity to grow and work with our wholesale customers to expand their lines. Our aim is to ensure our wholesalers and distributors are in a position to offer their customers exceptional choice and establish a point of difference from their competitors.
