Some might call me an outsider artist, living in my tree houses rather than the real world below. Art can be unnervingly real or a blissful form of escapism. It is the striking contrast between the two that gives the surrealist a razor's edge to walk. I find that edge to be comfortably close enough to my own reality to maybe reach out and grasp it.

I have often imagined myself painting in a bay window in a house perched on a cliff. It is the edifice that strikes a contrast between earth and sky. Enter the swells of sea foam coursing beneath and you are now at the apex of earthly existence, poised to ponder the world's grandeur.
