extruder of the month Tubi
Head offi ce: Paddington, NSW, Australia CEO: Marcello Russo
Ownership:
Founded: 1976 (as Ravcoplast) Private
Profi le: Tubi began in Australia in 1976 as Ravcoplast, developing pressure and non- pressure pipe in HDPE and PVC, as well as extruded fi lm. However, the company sold its interests in conventional pipe in 2009, and began producing a range of pipe using its own patented system – the Mobile Modular Extrusion Plant, which allows production of HDPE pipe in the fi eld.
Product lines:
Using its mobile production units, the company produces a range of pipe, including conventional HDPE, pressure HDPE (up to 40bar) and corrugated HDPE. The way in which the pipe is produced helps to the cost of pipe transportation, and guarantees supply – as the plant is situated at the construction site. The fact that pipe is produced directly on site means that it can be produced in a single length – reducing conventional weld joints by around 95%.
Factory locations: The company’s headquarters are in Paddington, in New South Wales, but pipe production takes place all over the world – wherever the company’s mobile units are located. It recently commissioned its fi rst Tubi 630 modular mobile plant to make pipe from 90 to 630mm diameter.
Other information: Other Tubi in-house technologies, such as Quick-String, allows large bore reeling and deployment of up to 4000m of portable pipe, with diameters up to 1200mm.
