TUCSON Tucson is in southern Arizona and the heart of the Sonoran Desert and claims the title of Sunniest City in the United States. Here, mild climate, spectacular scenery, an inventive culinary scene and unique attractions are found. The landscape is varied and includes flowering desert, rolling hills, rugged canyons and pine-topped peaks, all beneath a clear, blue sky. Scenery on the 60-minute drive from downtown Tucson to the top of Mt. Lemmon is like what you’d see on a trip from Mexico to Canada. Tucson’s spectacular skyline features five mountain ranges, all of which contain fantastic hiking and mountain biking for all experience levels. Plus, Tucson lodging properties offer exceptional value for groups. There’s also a plethora of unique museums. The Pima Air & Space Museum – the largest non-government funded aviation museum – has several venues for groups up to 700. To immerse the group in the Sonoran Desert, take a drive-through tour of Saguaro National Park West and get a breathtaking view of thousands of saguaros, the giants of the desert. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum tells the unique story of the region. More than 300 species of live animals and 1,400 species of plants indigenous to the Sonoran Desert are exhibited in naturalistic habitats. Golf is an excellent way to enjoy the Desert. Tucson’s newest golf course, Sewailo Golf Club is at Casino Del Sol Resort, where more than 30,000 Sonoran Desert flowers, cacti and other native plants have been incorporated into the landscaping.
