TUCSON Tucson is in southern Arizona and the heart of the Sonoran Desert and claims the title of Sunniest City in the United States. Here, mild climate, spectacular scenery, an inventive culinary scene and unique attractions are found. The landscape is varied and includes flowering desert, rolling hills, rugged canyons and pine-topped peaks, all beneath a clear, blue sky. Scenery on the 60-minute drive from downtown Tucson to the top of Mt. Lemmon is like what you’d see on a trip from Mexico to Canada. Tucson’s spectacular skyline features five mountain ranges, all of which contain fantastic hiking and mountain biking for all experience levels. Plus, Tucson lodging properties offer exceptional value for groups. There’s also a plethora of unique museums. The Pima Air & Space Museum – the largest non-government funded aviation museum – has several venues for groups up to 700. To immerse the group in the Sonoran Desert, take a drive-through tour of Saguaro National Park West and get a breathtaking view of thousands of saguaros, the giants of the desert. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum tells the unique story of the region. More than 300 species of live animals and 1,400 species of plants indigenous to the Sonoran Desert are exhibited in naturalistic habitats. Golf is an excellent way to enjoy the Desert. Tucson’s newest golf course, Sewailo Golf Club is at Casino Del Sol Resort, where more than 30,000 Sonoran Desert flowers, cacti and other native plants have been incorporated into the landscaping.

GRAND CANYON It only takes one look to understand why the Grand Canyon is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Located in northwestern Arizona, the Canyon was shaped by Mother Nature for millions of years, creating this powerful and immense landscape. At the South Rim, the town of Tusayan offers meeting planners a wide variety of guest rooms and meeting venues, including the Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn which also has the most meeting space.

& ARIZONA’S LAKES Not only is the Colorado to thank for the immenseness of the Grand Canyon, but numerous dams on the river have created some of the most pristine lakefront property in the Southwest including Lake Powell and Lake Mead. Launch at the Hoover Dam with Black Canyon/Willow Beach River Adventures and take your group on a float down the Colorado River for a memorable day with knowledgeable tour guides and breathtaking scenery.

At 7,000 feet, Flagstaff’s rarefied mountain air, university town feel, and interesting history, combined with the snow-capped San Francisco Peaks, vast trails for hiking, cycling and skiing, give meeting planners a something- for-everyone option. Reward yourself after a day in the cool mountain air at one of the many cafés and restaurants in downtown.
