zx Buckner Family Place Midland celebrates newly expanded facilities


MIDLAND, Texas – Leaders from Buckner International and community leaders from across the Permian Basin celebrated the grand opening of two new apartments and the Bridges Activity Center at Buckner Family Place in Midland with a ribbon-cut- ting ceremony and open house Nov. 18. The apartments provide single-parent families in Midland with a safe place to live while seeking higher education to help break cycles of abuse and dependency, giving them the opportunity to become self-sufficient. allows for additional training and group activities for Family Place residents. “Our goal is to help transform the lives

PEÑITAS, Texas – Buckner International has expanded its Family Hope Center ministries to transform the lives of more children and families in the area. Buckner executive and community leaders officially opened the expanded Family Hope Center Aug. 26 with a rib- bon cutting and ceremony. Thanks to


the generosity of Buckner donors, the con- struction will provide additional resources for families in the Peñitas area. “We are excited for this new addition because it gives Buckner an opportu- nity to expand the work of the Buckner Family Hope Center and provide hope to even more struggling families,” said Monica Salinas, executive director of Buckner Children and Family Services in the Rio Grande Valley. “This expansion will provide a safe and stable environment as our families strive to gain control of their futures and make positive changes for their families.” The Family Hope Cen-

This center offers a variety of services, including case management, social services, education, business devel- opment and humanitarian aid, while ad- dressing the physical, spiritual, medical, emotional and vocational needs of clients. Since it began in 2011, the Family Hope Center has ministered to more than 20,000 individuals in the Peñitas area through humanitarian aid, community and health programs. Following the com- pletion of the expansion, the center will continue to impact even more individuals through the addition of two community classrooms, a youth classroom, computer lab, family room and a children’s room that will provide activities while parents participate in program classes. –Lauri Ann Hanson
