Adeline Gray strikes gold for second time with epic performance in Uzbekistan

By Craig Sesker TASHKENT, Uzbekistan – Adeline Gray won a gold medal

and Elena Pirozhkova a silver medal to lead the U.S. women’s freestyle team to a third-place finish at the World Championships. 2012 Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs, seeking his

third straight World title, came back to earn a bronze medal in men’s freestyle despite suffering a knee injury in a first-round victory. Veteran Andy Bisek knocked off Olympic and World champion

Roman Vlasov of Russia en route to earning a bronze medal in Greco-Roman. It was the first World medal for the U.S. in Greco since 2009. The United States finished with six total medals overall at the

Silva by shooting in on a single-leg attack and finishing for a takedown midway through the first period. Gray was put on the shot clock for passivity late in the match

even though da Silva was wrestling defensively the entire time. The Brazil wrestler was awarded a point after Gray failed to score in 30 seconds, but Gray held her off in the final 20 sec- onds to prevail 2-1. “She’s always dangerous,” Gray said. “I tried to play it a little
