Alo has Olympic dreams
Hawaiian wrestler won Cadet World title in 2014

world class surfing, the white sand of Waikiki Beach and is the site of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. One young female wrestler is striving to add another chapter in the history of Oahu by bringing an Olympic gold medal to the historic American Island. Just 16, Honolulu native Teshya Alo is one of
the top young stars in the world of women’s wrestling, and she has her sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This past July, Alo defeated five international opponents in Snina, Slovakia en route to captur- ing the gold medal at the FILA Cadet World Championships at 56 kg/123.25 lbs. “Winning the gold medal means a lot to me. It
took a lot of hard work, dedication and commit- ment,” Alo said. “When I got my hand raised dur- ing that final match I just broke down in tears. That was the happiest moment of my life.” Alo defeated top Russian competitor Ksenia Nezgovorova i9-2 in the World finals. U.S. assistant coach Erin Tomeo was impressed by the growth shown by Alo. “Everything from her preparation once arriving
in Slovakia to being nervous prior to the first match and having to refocus, to battling back from behind in tough matches on the international stage carried her through the World Championships,” Tomeo said. “Her poise and composure throughout the entire competition por- trayed a true champion. “I know Teshya's future will be filled with many
