No sour grapes at Buckswood


NEW CATERING CONTRACTS ANNOUNCED


Buckswood School in Sussex has become one of the first in the country to produce its own wine, having established its own vineyard on the Guestling estate four years ago. This year the first harvest of Ortega grape was turned into 500 botles of dry white wine under the watchful eye and expert guidance of local award- winning wine producer Carr-Taylor Vineyards. The wine – which is called Time for a Vine – has been sold at various school events, with all the profits being donated to the school’s Swaziland charity. “Experience is the ‘Buckswood

was born out of the combination of the excellent local grape-growing conditions on our Sussex coastal estate and the desire to give all the Buckswood scholars yet another opportunity to experience the world hands-on. In science, business, art and geography – there is a chance for every academic discipline at Buckswood to use the project as a resource.”


Tap offers eco-friendly savings

Services company Sodexo has announced that it has been awarded catering and hospitality contracts with The Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton, Middlesex and Campbell College in Belfast. The former is one of the top ten girls’ schools in the country, and its five-year agreement with Sodexo will see the company providing fresh food from scratch for staff and more than 800 pupils aged from seven to 18. “The Lady Eleanor Holles School has some great facilities,” says Jeremy Alderton, managing director of Sodexo’s independent schools business. “Our proposals are commited to enhancing the menu range, introducing live theatre cooking featuring dishes from around the world and presenting the food choices in a contemporary style.” Established in 1894,


Campbell College is one of Northern Ireland’s premier grammar schools. More than 1,000 pupils atend the school, a mix of day students and boarders aged between four and 18 years, and while it is primarily a boys’ school, infant girls can atend an on-site kindergarten. The college has boarders from all over the world. Its rugby- playing prowess is renowned, while its former pupils include C. S. Lewis. Sodexo’s contract to provide the college with catering, vending and hospitality services runs for three years and will act as a flagship account for the development of its education business in Northern Ireland.
