Is Acne, Eczema and Rosacea Related to Diet? Y
es, according to Lisa Kenney, Lead Aesthetician at TSecret in College Park. Acne fl are ups are an infl ammatory response to foods that are high in processed/hydrogenated fats, highly acidic foods and those full of refi ned sugars/carbohydrates. She recommends restricting or avoiding dairy, as well as any dairy substitutes that may have hydrogenated oils (i.e., coffee creamers), using instead almond, coconut, rice or oat milk substitutes. Also the list of foods that cause breakouts are fast foods/fried foods like pizza, french fries, fried chicken, bacon (or any meats high in fat). Processed soy products, such as protein bars/powders, can also be hard to digest and increase infl ammation. (Soy consumption should be limited to edamame, tofu, miso or tempeh). Dermatologist Bill Dunby, a professor at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, has published 10 studies about the link between dairy and acne. “In one involving 47,355 women, he found that those who drank the most milk were 44% more likely to have severe acne than those who drank no milk.” (Glamour magazine, Nov 2012). The most likely reason for the link between milk consumption and acne is the increase of growth hormones found in pregnant cow’s milk. Lisa shares “While I’m not a vegan, I believe cow’s milk is meant for baby cows. We are the only species to consume another’s milk. Now don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying I don’t like the taste of cheese or ice cream, I do (as do most of us). But for those prone to acne, these are foods that ought to be eliminated.” “I have been working with acne clients professionally for over 12 years. When I challenge my clients to ‘clean up their dietary act,’ it is sometimes met with resistance, but every client who does, can see and feel the difference! My experience working with clients suffering from acne has made it clear to me that diet makes an impact on the skin--both good and bad. Furthermore, research supports the link between diet and acne as well--specifi cally between refi ned carbs, dairy and bad fats such as fried foods. And an increasing number of dermatologists are beginning to acknowledge the link, too. When we arm ourselves with the knowledge that we have some control
over the appearance of our skin, my suggestion is to “feed your face” what it really craves! A balance of whole, real, fresh nutritious foods—fruits and vegetables, greens, whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins--will not only make your skin look and feel better, but your overall well-being will respond in kind as well!” Lisa Kenney, Lead Aesthetician at TSecret can be reached at 407-999-5008.

COLONICS Only $150! Must prepay. Expires 10/31/14
illions of people are suffering through bizarre and debilitating health symptoms: neurological, colon and skin problems, pain, etc, and doctors cannot diagnose what is wrong or what to do about it. Symptoms vary from person-to-person and fl uctuate in severity or may come and go. More and more diseases are arising and are, ironically, being named after the doctors that cannot cure them!
A Real Kick in the Gut! M
Certain fungi make poisonous
byproducts called mycotoxins. These are common in many of our foods grown in mass amounts and stored in warm, dark, moist silos or containers. Mycotoxins can affect every tissue in the body and cause damage. The name “mycotoxin” is new and represents a condition not taught in American medical schools. Seventy-fi ve percent of our immune system is contained in our gut. It is supposed to be balanced with 80% benefi cial bacteria. When this balance is disturbed by foods containing fungus, this can lead to overgrowth and escalate into digestion problems, allergies, autoimmune abnormalities, diseases and, ultimately, cancer. We provide simple solutions to
your wellness success in turning this progression around! Examining a drop of blood with Live Blood Cell Analysis can disclose the presence of yeast, fungus, parasites and many other anomalies. Identifying these can lead to a satisfactory resolution. To see “What’s in Your Blood?” call 321-276-0578 or 407-599-0406 to set an appointment with Julie Kane, LPN at The Nature’s Garden in Maitland. You deserve to have peace of mind.
