Kinnane’s decision to leave his highearning international legal career came when the younger of his two sons experienced a speech language delay.

“Seeing him thrive with the assistance of a speech pathologist really spurred me to make the leap.”

“While I loved being a lawyer in my 20s and 30s, I’d had enough of the insane hours. Plus I’ve always been interested in language and literacy and wanted to make more of a contribution to helping others.”

Kinnane opened Banter Speech and Language in Sydney’s inner west in March and has already built up a strong base of local clients.

“I feel much more connected to my local community. My office is in the suburb we live in and I now enjoy family dinners with my wife and sons – something I was never able to do as a lawyer.”
