RESULTS FROM ATA’S MEMBERSHIP SURVEY

In the Spring 2014 issue of Tinnitus Today, we asked you to complete a short survey, to help us know more about your experience with tinnitus and your membership in ATA. The response to this survey was overwhelming—we received feedback from over 1,100 ATA members! Thank you to all of you who took the time and effort to share your story!

ABOUT ATA’S MEMBERS Sex

Age

ATA’s membership demographics reflect general trends in the

tinnitus population. We know that tinnitus disproportionally affects males and older age groups.

Below is some of the information gathered from the survey. The aggregate data reveal how complex and diverse tinnitus is as a medical condition. Everyone has a unique experience with tinnitus, with different catalysts, auditory perceptions, and burden levels. This complexity is, in part, what makes tinnitus so challenging to understand and treat.

But no matter how you perceive tinnitus, as a member of ATA you are part of a larger community of tinnitus patients. Working together, this community can and will deliver the silence we all desire.
