Q: Does The Profit’s Marcus Lemonis have any tips for kids running a

lemonade stand?

—Zach R., Columbus, Ohio A: “Have great presenta- tion, good signage, and carry more than lemon- ade,” says the investor, who returns to CNBC on Oct. 14. “You can’t run a business just by selling one thing.” That, he adds, was the “flaw in the busi- ness model” of Crumbs Bake Shop, which he plans to rescue from bankruptcy and reopen with an ex- panded range of sweets and snacks. Are you shedding your teen queen image with this al- bum? It’s definitely more mature sounding, but I don’t feel like doing anything annoying or shocking to convey my maturity. I’ll just have to wait patiently. I’m not rushing. You boast a four-octave range. When did you first know you had a special voice? I was singing ‘N Sync in the car when I was really young and did one of Justin Timberlake’s high riffs and my mom said, “Was that you? Do that again!” How do you feel about the cancelation of your Nickel- odeon showSam & Cat ? I’m unhappy about it. It was a huge part of my life, but I’m excited for what’s next and so are my fans. It’s a great situation. (Find out how to get Grande to follow you on Twitter at parade.com/tweet.) What was it like growing up in Boca Raton, Fla.? It made for a really great childhood. I grew up with my amazing, gold lamé–wearing, poker-playing grandpar- ents, who are the greatest people on the planet! I’m proud to come from a fun- loving, mildly dysfunctional Italian family!

tornado movie. How will Into the Storm be

different? —Olivia S., San Diego

A: “Twister (1996) was an amazing film, and they did a great job with the tech- nology and the tools that they had, but they didn’t have as many videos of

tornadoes for reference,” says director Steven Quale, who pored over hours of real storm foot- age to create effects for his thriller Into the Storm, out now. “Ours is the next generation’s approach.

We’re able to make them feel more realistic.”

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough

Q: Does Derek Hough have a favorite partner from Dancing With the Stars? —Sheri A., Arvada, Colo. A: The five-time cham- pion, 29, won’t pick a favorite “because they’ve all been so different,” but says dancing with Para- lympian Amy Purdy this spring “was very special.” The feeling is mutual for Purdy, a double amputee. “Fans don’t know how grounded and spiritual he is. I loved spending time with Derek,” she says. Who would you like to see join the fall cast ofDWTS? Vote at parade.com/dwts.
