20 QUESTIONS WITH... Alli Ragan
Alli Ragan is one of the top young women’s freestyle wrestlers in the World.
Ragan turned in a dominating performance to win the World
Team Trials in women’s freestyle at 58 kg/128 lbs. on May 31 in Madison, Wis.
She advances to her second straight World Championships. Ragan, 22, an Illinois native, won a silver medal at the 2013
World University Games. She’s a two-time Junior World bronze medalist.
She recently completed a successful college career at King University.
Ragan took time out of her busy schedule to talk recently with USA Wrestler:
1. Favorite movie? Zoolander or Billy Madison 2. Favorite TV show? Grey's Anatomy
3. What do you listen to before you compete? I turn up to some Beyoncé, Juicy J, and can't forget Miley
Cyrus!
4. Favorite food when not watching your weight? Oreos and milk
5. Favorite sport other than wrestling? Soccer or tennis
6. Favorite athlete to watch in another sport? St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina. I'm a big Cardinals fan and he's the man!
7. Favorite wrestler and why?
My favorite wrestler of all-time is John Smith because he has the best low single ever! Ed Ruth is my favorite wrestler who is competing now. His offense is just unstoppable! 8. Best piece of advice you've received? Believe in yourself.
9. What kind of advice would you give a young wrestler? Hard work pays off.
10. Best moment as a wrestler so far? Winning college nationals as a team this year! 11. Name three people you would love to invite to dinner? Jesus, Beyoncé, Blake Shelton. 12. What is one thing you are afraid of? Time
13. How did you become involved in wrestling? My Dad was a wrestling coach and my older brother wrestled, so I'd be at practices bored watching, so I finally was like if I'm gonna have to be here I might as well join in on the fun! 14. How were you able to adjust to competing on the Senior level?
The more experience I got at the Senior level the more com-
fortable and confident I felt competing. 15. Any idea what you will do when you stop competing? I'm about to start working on my Master’s in athletic adminis- tration. I want to be an athletic director once wrestling is over. 16. What is the best part about training in Colorado? Everything about training in Colorado is great! The new weight room is amazing, and the food in the caf makes it that much better!
17. What are your goals for international wrestling? To be a World champ and an Olympic champ individually and

18. Coolest place you've traveled to and why? Thailand for Junior Worlds. It was right on the beach and everything was so cheap. An hour massage was $10 so we would get at least one a day!
19. What do you like about the international style of wrestling?
I like that every country has their own certain style and that no match is going to be a piece of cake. You have to go out there and bring your A game or those foreigners will put you in your place.
20. Funniest girl on the team and why?
Jenna Burkert for sure! She is always laughing or cracking a joke on someone!
