GROWING GERMAN BEARDED IRIS–Plant in a location with good drainage, fertile soil and at least ½ day of sun. Set rhizomes 18 to 24 inches apart, with no more than an inch of soil covering the rhizome. In northern areas, mulch- ing the first winter is recommended to prevent plants from heaving out of the ground due to frost. Plant heights may vary slightly from those described due to soil conditions, climate and other factors. Plants bloom in May and June.
