The PASSION APPROACH I
’m a fisherman—saltwater, fresh, offshore, inshore and kayak—it’s all fair game to me. I started fishing with my father in South Florida when I was a
baby. By the time I was 15, I was fishing freshwater tournaments. It’s almost a decade later and I still try to fish every tournament I can, but
giving back to the fishing community is even more important to me. Every December, I run the Children’s Holiday Fishing Classic, a tournament that gets kids shore-side and draws hundreds of little anglers. I also work hard to sup- port Coastal Conservation Association by volunteering my time to work on the front line of fisheries management. On top of that, I conduct seminars for Florida Sportswoman, Bass Pro Shops, and at sports shows and other events. My family, friends and the people who run tournaments invested so much time and money in me years ago so that I could realize my dreams. Paying it forward is how I thank them. When I’m not fishing, I’m thinking, talking and writing about fishing. I im-
merse myself in what I love. Fishing is a sport that changes daily, from shifting weather conditions to ever evolving technology, the sport challenges me to keep innovating and keep fishing. I work as much kayak fishing into my sched- ule as possible. I am always scouting new water on Google Earth or by driving a different route home from work. I am constantly on the lookout for flats,

mangroves, ponds, canals or any water that looks fishy. One reason I started kayak fishing was to access hard-to-reach areas that I can’t properly fish from the bank or with a motor boat. When I fish saltwater, I am a sight casting junkie. I use my Hobie to reach
prime spots with grass or mangroves and then I drift and cast while keeping an eye out for tailing fish. The rush of seeing a redfish inhale my bait and start pulling drag is unbeatable. Some days I am on the water before sunrise and fish until late in the day. In freshwater, I always hope that my next bite will be a bass that breaks my
current 11-pound personal record. I pride myself on being a competitive and skilled angler. When I’m not on
the water, I work to promote products, write reviews, blog, edit video, partici- pate in sports shows and stay active on social media. I have this saying: You can’t teach passion. When you find what you’re pas-
sionate about you have to run with it. Ten years ago, a little girl ran with her passion and now I’m here today doing what I love. I want to fish my heart out and be a role model for men and women by encouraging them to make their dreams a reality.
