from the catcher tank, eliminating vibration and ensur- ing maximum part quality. The system utilizes an industrial PC controller. It is ballscrew-driven for

optimal precision and features direct-couple AC brushless digital servo motors and single or double carriages. Edge X-5 waterjet machine is available in many sizes, from 5 × 5' (1.5 × 1.5 m) to 24 × 13' (7 x 4 m). An optional second cutting head can be added to double productivity. Jet Edge

Large-Part HMC Machining

The a81nx horizontal machining center extends the capabili- ties of its 1-series predecessor. The a81nx features a 100-mm extension of the Y-axis column, bringing full-axis travels along the X, Y and Z axes to 35.4 × 35.4 × 40.2" (900 × 900 × 1020 mm), respectively. The increased Y-axis travel is espe- cially beneficial for automotive parts such as engine blocks and cylinder heads, where the critical mating surfaces require feed-on/feed- off milling passes for optimal sealing. For improved speed and productivity, the a81nx is equipped with a 10,000-rpm

spindle that delivers 305 N•m of duty-rated torque, 25% over the previous model. Other advanced productivity features in- clude a new GI servo control mode that can reduce pocketing times for aluminum billet applications, and a new chain-type, 80-tool-capacity ATC magazine for reduced tool-seek times.
