Showstoppers in Shanghai
Chinaplas, the largest plastics show taking place this year, opens its doors in Shanghai on 23 April. By the time it ends three days later, on 26 April, more than 100,000 visitors will have come through the turnstiles, to inspect the products and services of around 2,900 exhibitors. Adsale, the show’s organiser, boasts that it will host
more than 3,200 sets of machines. The show is certainly dominated by machinery, with many established Western companies keen to extend their foothold in China.
Machine innovations KraussMaffei Berstorff will showcase a number of its technologies, including an extruder pipehead concept for 5-layer pipes. The 5-layer pipehead KM-5L RKW 01-40 sets standards for future requirements on the Chinese market, says the company. “With our 5-layer pipehead we are presenting a
stable, effi cient solution for the trend towards complex, multi-layer pipes,” said Michael Hofhus, head of sales and service of KraussMaffei Berstorff in China. “Produc- ers in the Asian and Chinese market can now manufac- ture complex pipes with up to fi ve functional layers.”

The pipehead has a modular design based on the
spiral distributor principle. The spiral distributors are fl ow-optimised and have the lowest possible pressure loss, which ensures optimum pipe quality and high production reliability. The model exhibited (for the diameter range up to
40mm) is combined with the single-screw extruder KME 45-30 B/R and two coextruders in the size KME 30-25 D/C.
