Vector Signs Exclusive 5-year MRO Support Contract with Sunshine Helicopters

www.vectoraerospace.com) announces that its subsidiary, Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services-North America (“HS-NA”) has signed a 5 year, exclusive MRO support contract with Sunshine Helicopters of Kahulu, Maui. This Agreement will cover Sunshine Helicopter’s Arriel 1 and Arriel 2 engines, and Airbus Helicopter AS350, AS355 and EC130 dynamic components. “Vector is thrilled to have signed this MRO support contract with Sunshine Helicopters at Heli-Expo this year,” says Eric Hicks, regional sales director at HS-NA. “This support agreement solidifies Vector’s commitment to Sunshine to provide “top shelf” MRO support for their fleet of Airbus Helicopter tour aircraft.” “‘Vector understands our needs and operational demands in the tour sector,” states Ross Scott, president, Sunshine Helicopters. “Our decision to choose Vector as the exclusive MRO provider for our fleet of AS350 and EC130 helicopters was based on Vector’s past superior customer service and our strong and lengthy relationship.” HS-NA is an Airbus Helicopter authorized repair and

Lycoming Eliminates “Frequent” Use Requirement on 2200 TBO for Robinson Helicopters
Robinson Helicopters announces that Lycoming Service Instruction No. 1009AW (February 24, 2014) eliminates the previous 2200 time-between-overhaul (TBO) requirement that specified engines be used in “frequent” service, defined as 40 hours or more per month. The Service Instruction extends the engine overhaul period from 2000 to 2200 hours without restrictions, and applies only to Lycoming engines built to specifications for and installed in Robinson helicopters.
The 200 hour extension is based on the excellent service
history of the O-320-B2C and O-360- J2A engines used in the R22, and the O-540-F1B5 and IO-540-AE1A5 engines used in the R44. For more information, visit

Bell Helicopter Announces Support of the Medevac Foundation International’s HEMS 101 Project
Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company, announces its support for the Medevac Foundation’s HEMS 101 Project, which is dedicated to producing a set of guidelines for establishing Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS)/ Air Ambulance Programs in nations that currently do not

have services in place. Bell Helicopter will make a $150,000 donation spread equally over the next three years in support of the project and presented the first funding check at a special ceremony at HELI-EXPO 2014. The partnership will showcase the unique ability of helicopters to remove some of the barriers to accessible and timely care. “For the last 60 years, Bell Helicopter has helped define helicopter emergency medical services and have worked closely with operators around the world to ensure we provide the best aircraft solutions to meet patient and safety needs,” says Danny Maldonado, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Bell Helicopter. “At Bell Helicopter, we are on a mission to change the way the world flies through superior vertical lift that helps save lives. research conducted by the Medevac Foundation International and others that has shown that critically ill or injured patients who are transported by HEMS programs have a significantly greater chance of survival, more complete recoveries, and better long-term health outcomes compared with those who were denied access to care or whose access to care was delayed beyond a reasonable time. The use of general HEMS guidelines, tailored for each individual country, will enable HEMS providers to advocate for the development of HEMS capabilities in regions where they do not exist today in order to improve access to healthcare services in those nations. These guidelines will also help show the general public what types of system exists for them and what levels of care may be needed in an emergency. The four goals of the “HEMS 101” Project include: 1. Educate multiple audiences (e.g., national legislators and
regulators, business leaders, and healthcare and/or insurance company leaders, and the general public) about the life-saving contributions HEMS programs make to their communities, and how they provide the citizens of those communities a bridge to their nations’ health-care safety nets. 2. Produce a set of guidelines for establishing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) programs in developed and developing nations without those services. 3. Explain how to integrate HEMS programs with existing local hospitals, clinics, or local emergency systems. 4. Provide options on how the HEMS programs would be
