The Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) has elected Mike Redmond of Bosch Rexroth as its new president. Mike succeeds outgoing president, Joy Global’s Paul Bancroft. Having started his career at the National Coal Board (NCB), qualifying in mining mechanical engineering and mechanical and production engineering, in 1986 Mike joined

Hagglunds’ UK and quickly became responsible for UK sales in heavy industry and bulk handling. He moved to the firm’s headquarters in Sweden in 2002 to improve business development globally.
In 2011 Hagglunds was acquired by and merged into the Bosch Rexroth Group. Today Mike is Bosch Rexroth’s industry sector manager for mining and materials handling for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America. Commenting on his appointment, Mike said: “I’m a great supporter of the MHEA and I am honoured to have been elected president. I look forward to
working with our members and executive committee to take on the challenges ahead, and would like to thank Paul Bancroft for his success over the last two years in helping to make the MHEA a stronger association representing our industry.”
The MHEA represents the heavy end of the Bulk Materials Handling industry, giving its members a powerful voice in a marketplace where trading conditions remain challenging. Its 45 members include designers, consultants, manufacturers and distributors of heavy duty material handling equipment including plant design, conveyors, screening, belting, drive systems and related equipment for sectors such as mining, quarrying, demolition, recycling and marine. n
