feeders to Kemira Solids handling specialist, Ajax Equipment, has been awarded a contract to supply four screw feeders to leading water chemicals company, Kemira Chemicals. The screw feeders will replace vibratory feeders at the company’s Bradford production facility.
Finlay moves into new markets
Finlay Group is moving into new markets within the bulk handling sector after securing the dealership for Trackstack in England and Wales. Finlay Group is now marketing the
Trackstack range of bulk handling products, which include tracked stockpilers, loaders, unloaders, and tracked radial stockpilers for sectors including quarrying, demolition and recycling, ports, rail freight and mining. Capable of delivering significant economic and environmental incentives across industry, Trackstack products are constructed to a ‘built to last’ ethos, with a strong emphasis on quality.
Manufactured at a five-acre facility in Omagh, Trackstack is part of the world-renowned Tesab Group, and the machinery has been installed in locations around the globe. The stockpilers offer the ability to introduce a massive stockpiling capability on site, with the machinery engineered to provide a high torque, fuel efficient process, capable of powering through material to deliver exceptional production rates. By creating a large stockpile height,
the need for a shovel and labour to constantly move processed material from a crusher or screener to storage areas is eliminated. Furthermore, when joined-up to a
crusher or screener the machinery is operated through the remit of one operator, for a joined-up approach that saves double handing, wear and tear and fuel costs. For the port and rail industries, a range of loaders and unloaders are available, which cater for containers, vessels, barges and trains – and can also be used for stockpiling. Dave Statham, a director of Finlay Group said: “The sheer price of fuel in operating a shovel to move material, and labour costs, makes a compelling case for the introduction of Trackstack bulk handling systems. “Ultimately they reduce degradation, enhance safety and lower costs.
“The machinery also handles a broad range of material, including sand, wood, aggregates and glass, and they are versatile, highly mobile and quick to set-up. “This type of machinery is slowly
revolutionising the materials handling industry, and with the Trackstack dealership now in place we can offer a complete package that meets the evolving needs of the material processing sector.”
As well as being available to buy,
the Trackstack products can be introduced on site through Finlay Hire. A fast replacement parts service is also available from Midlands-based Sure Equipment Spares (SES). Leon Connolly, of Tesab’s Export and Sales Distribution division, is overseeing the introduction of Trackstack into Britain. He said: “Trackstack offers an innovative solution for the bulk handling sector and the quality of the products, combined with Finlay Group’s sales, technical support and after-sales service, makes for a good partnership.
“These machines have made a positive impact in installations around the globe.
“Each product is designed to meet the needs of our customers and ultimately save them money.” n

Ajax says its screw conveyors are suitable for a wide range of applications
Solids and Bulk Handling March 2014 5
Originally Kemira ordered one feeder as a replacement for a vibratory feeder, in order to assess how the screw performed conveying polyacrylamide granules. When the screw feeder’s performance exceeded that of the remaining vibratory feeders Kemira decided to replace all five with Ajax screw feeders.
The layout could be satisfied by four screw feeders that range in length from approximately seven to nine meters. The stainless steel screws all feature full bladed flights customised to provide reliable and positive transfer, with care taken to ensure the feeder’s hanger bearings do not present an obstacle to flow.
Steve Parkinson, Kemira Chemicals UK, said: “When the first screw conveyor began operating the difference in performance compared to the vibratory feeder was clear. We can now fill intermediate bulk containers more quickly and accurately. The introduction of the other Ajax’s screw feeders to the plant will further strengthen the production process through the new feeders’ efficiency and reliability”.
Previously Ajax has supplied Kemira with six
vertical screw blenders for the production of dry polyacrylamide at the Bradford plant. n
