Ball Review 900 GLOBAL:

Network Hook 53 • Length 16 • Breakpoint Shape 17 //////////////////////////////////// //////////

Intent: 900 Global offers its newest coverstock blend and its strongest asymmetrical core to date in order to get you “on the network” to conquer your lanes.

Core: The Network uses the CFT2 asymmetrical core with an RG of 2.49, a differential of .051 and a PSA of .030. We saw 5 inches of flare with our layout. Coverstock: The gold and caramel XPT74 pearl cover is finished with neaT (4000 grit) to provide the length for medium to oily lanes. Overview: The Network provides a strong mid-lane roll with a pop off the spot because of the pearlized cover. With its low RG, it was a little too strong and forced us deeper then we wanted to be on the lighter house pattern, but on Stone Street, we were able to play around the second arrow and a little more direct, creating a strong motion off the pattern and through the pins. On the Viper, we could play from the inside angles when the pattern carried down. The Network is versatile from many different angles and strong off the breakpoint, as well as being one of those balls that is stronger than you expect.

TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKE YOU A BETTER BOWLER

BRUNSWICK:

BRUNSWICK:

Johnny Petraglia LT-48 Hook 46 • Length 16 • Breakpoint Shape 13 //////////////////////////////////// //////////

Intent: The Johnny Petraglia LT-48

is the first in the Vintage series by Brunswick. The company is bringing back the great balls of the past and adapting them for modern lane con- ditions. The LT-48 is a great one to start with, because it might be the most famous ball in the history of Brunswick. (Ed. Note: What about the Black Beauty?!?) Core: The symmetrical LT-48

Medium RG core has an old school-looking block with a tall and solid cylindrical design. The RG is a high 2.60, with a lower differential of .038, producing 2 to 3 inches of flare. Coverstock: The new 3C reactive

solid cover is a special low friction cover designed to produce longer motion with enhanced con- trol. 3C uses the retro slick black color, perfect for the first in the vintage series. Out of the box, the finish is sanded with a 500 Siaair Micro Pad, polished with Royal Compound and fin- ished with Royal Shine. Overview: The LT got down the lane very easily and was

able to play more to the right on the lighter house pattern. We also were able to play more direct on the Viper pattern, and the ball gave us a smooth transition on the fresh. This ball allows slower ball speed bowlers to get the ball down the lane and save the energy for impact on the pins. The back-end motion was very predictable on the house pattern. On the shorter pattern, it allowed us to really open the lane with its smooth motion. It is as smooth as Johnny has been over the years, and it truly reminded me of the old LT-48 . This also is a ball for high rev players, because of its very controlled motion in the friction downlane, it provided good hitting action from deep angles as well. It is a very good ball for shorter and lighter oil volume pat- terns, and for burned-up lanes late in a block.

Mastermind Genius Hook 53 • Length 13 • Breakpoint Shape 15

//////////////////////////////////// //////////

Intent: The Mastermind Genius is the hybrid complement to the original Mastermind (November 2013). The Genius is designed to give a cleaner motion with stronger back-end reaction and improved versatility compared to its predecessor. Core: The asymmetrical “Mastermind

Ultra Low RG” core’s RG is 2.54, with a differential of .052 and a PSA of .015. With our layout, we saw about 5 inches of flare. Coverstock: The Genius has the Honor Roll Hybrid coverstock around it, using black, green and gold to make it shine down the lanes. The ball is sanded with a 500 Siaair Micro Pad and finished with Royal Compound. Overview: The Genius lived up to its hype in relationship to the Mastermind as being cleaner and saving the energy for the backend. It was a little too much for me on the lighter house pattern and on Viper, but on Stone Street it rolled strong in the midlane without starting up too quickly. On Dead Man’s Curve, it was a little shiny at first, but once the pattern broke down a little, it gave me a strong motion to the pock- et. The Genius is one of those balls which definitely gives you more, but not to the point of moving you out of your comfort zone on your house pattern, especially for lower rev players. This ball needs some conditioner up front, however, because it is still a very strong piece.
