Spring Hothouse 2014 at Halsway Manor, nr Taunton runs from 14th –19th April – a five day intensive residential for young musicians, dancers and film makers centred around the folk arts, offering the opportunity for young musicians and dancers from the South West to work with leading folk artists to create a collaborative performance piece – and to perform it live at festivals this summer. Kilfenora, Co Clare – one of
Ireland’s most famous music locations – is staging its sixth annual traditional music festival from 25th – 28th April 2014, featuring set-dancing – in the home of Irish céilí – concerts, and the legendary Kilfenora pub sessions. Concerts include Liam Ó Maonlaí and From Boffin to Burren with Dessie & Johnnie O’Halloran, Kieran Hanrahan, Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Padraic & Damian O’Reilly, Ronan O’Flaherty and Seamus O’Donnell. On Sunday afternoon, there will be an attempt to create the largest céilí band ever for the Guinness Book Of Records. Everyone is invited to bring an instrument and play along with the Kilfenora Céilí Band.

EFEx (English Folk Expo), the second annual industry showcase for English folk music will be held at Bury Met from 16th – 19th October, aiming to make a significant contribution to the export of contemporary and traditional English folk music, and to nurture support for English folk music from domestic music programmers.
