lets transfer all of their energy to the target for a devastating hit. On their website, DDupleks has a series of videos that demonstrate the shells’ per- formance. In one, a standard slug is shown

penetrating a watermelon and continuing on through a second watermelon placed directly in line behind the fi rst. T is is one problem with standard lead slugs—over penetration through the target. When the Kaviar 26L
shell was fi red, only the fi rst watermelon ex- ploded. T e Kaviar frangible round did not over penetrate the melon. In a second video, several other melons are placed in a circle for- mation around the target. A standard buck- shot load would strike several of the melons at certain distances. A standard slug would over penetrate. T e Kaviar round took out the tar- get melon while leaving the others untouched. Further videos on their website show the Kaviar round’s penetration in simulated FBI ballistic tests on bare gelatin, through heavy clothing, auto glass, and auto steel. T e Ka- viar slugs passed through all the barriers and transferred their energy to the gelatin with- out over penetration.
One last video demonstrates the power of the Kaviar round on a jug of water. T e jug explodes impressively while a second jug placed 27.5 inches behind remains un- harmed. T e energy and pellets once again transferred only to the target. A standard lead 12-gauge slug would have continued right through the fi rst jug and the second jug and beyond.
For competition when slugs are required,

when shooting steel reactive targets, when fi ring indoors on steel targets or against steel backstops, the Kaviar 16L round for D Dupleks and imported by Century Interna- tional Arms is an excellent solution. For law enforcement needs that require a shotgun to fi re a precision shot on target with maximum eff ect, the Kaviar 12-gauge frangible shotgun slug is a great choice. T e energy transfer to the target is extreme while greatly limiting over penetration. Shotguns are excellent weapons when used in the right situations. Utilizing a shotgun with rifl e sights and a slug turns the scatter- gun into a rifl e. Oftentimes it is better to use an actual rifl e, but the Kaviar 26L round’s accuracy and power can turn a shotgun into a rifl e with outstanding results. PM

A top-notch shotgun like the Scattergun Technologies pump matches up well with the Kaviar 12-gauge slugs.
