 The frangible Kaviar slug knocks down a steel reactive target with authority from a Remington 870 shotgun.


3-Gun competition, the opportunity to test the Kaviar 26L frangible shells arose. T e 12- gauge shells were found to function without fault in a Remington 870 pump, a custom Scattergun Technology pump, a semi-auto- matic Benelli M2 Tactical, and in a Mossberg 930 JM Pro-Series Tactical semi-auto. ers so they could give feedback in comparison to what they were used to. Each shooter said that the recoil was much less than a standard slug and either equal to or just slightly more than the shotshells they were using for com- petition (usually target or birdshot loads). Accuracy was outstanding as none of the 40 shots fi red ever missed their target. Hits were right in the middle of the steel and exactly where the guns were aimed. When the frangible slug struck the steel, it was promptly knocked down hard and fast. T e Kaviar 26L features a red plastic “slug” with lead pellets suspended in an im- pressive matrix.
