Middle East Electricity 2014 11th–13th February

As consumption of energy is set to double in the next 30 years, every year is a landmark for the world’s leading power event – Middle East Electricity. Held annually in Dubai, it is now celebrating its 39th year.

Dubai certainly understands the need for alternative energy sources. As the Emirate’s status as a cultural and business centre in the Middle East surges so does the population, which in turn means an increased demand for energy. Dubai is keen to lead the way in this field.

Technology and products are improving in leaps and bounds, and industry leaders and decision- makers from all over the world will be turning up to forge business deals that will change the face

of energy. This year’s exhibition, organised by Informa Exhibitions under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is set to be bigger and better than last year – 1,250 exhibitors will demonstrate the latest innovations, with over 18,000 visitors expected through the doors. The focus will be on power, lighting, and new & renewable energy sectors.

Running over three days, the region’s largest and longest running power event is packed with seminar and speaker sessions.

Day One is dedicated to Green Energy, and looks at cleaner power production and energy efficiency strategies, with the aim of promoting discussion, change and action for a sustainable future in the Middle East region. Highlights of the day include Dubai Municipality’s vision for a sustainable

future, a Middle East Leaders Panel discussion, and a project showcase from Dubai Aluminium.

Day Two is the Solar Middle East Conference, which is dedicated to overcoming obstacles and harnessing the potential solar power in the region. Highlights of the day include a Solar industry analysis and MENA market overview, a Technology Round Table, and the Project Showcase – Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The Solar Park is part of the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy, with the aim of having a more diverse mix of energy in the UAE by 2030.

Day Three hosts the Solar Middle East Workshop and Dubai Green Building Project Workshop.

A special awards ceremony will also be held during ME Electricity, recognising the achievements

of organisations, teams and individuals in nine categories including Power Project of the Year, Best Product Launch at ME Electricity and Young Engineer of the Year.

MEE 2014 features six new country pavilions, bringing the total to 22, including Argentina, Finland, Spain, UK, Austria, France, Malaysia, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, China, India, Qatar, Turkey and more. Thousands of new products are set to be launched at the show so look out for the latest innovations and technologies across the whole sector.
